Lens F Value

Not only the projection lens but also many other lenses are used within the projector. The F value is a quotient of the focal length of a lens divided by the bore.

F Value = Focal length / Bore of a lens

Like the F value of a camera diaphragm, it shows the brightness of a lens and is an essential value for optical design. As the F value becomes smaller, the light concentrates more and the image becomes brighter, but peripheral aberrations (such as image distortion) become larger. As the F value increases, brightness deteriorates, but the panels gain more parallel incident light.
